Our Aims & Values

At Cromwell Academy, we dream, believe and achieve.

We all strive:

  • To build strong relationships and work in partnership to develop children who feel comfortable, safe, confident and valued
  • To ensure every child has an equal opportunity to succeed and achieve
  • To develop independent lifelong learners
  • To create memorable experiences for the whole community

Our Vision

At Cromwell Academy, we work closely with parents and carers to give every child a great education and a love of learning for life.

Our goal is to help children want to do their best and get ready for the future. We focus on building their personal and school skills, along with respect and responsibility.

Children learn best when they feel safe, happy and valued. We create a kind and caring environment where children feel confident and can grow. This helps them use their talents and enjoy learning.

Every child can succeed and has something special to offer. We encourage children to dream big and not be afraid to try new things. Learning comes from facing challenges and experiences, not just facts. This helps prepare them for adult life.

We provide a fun and exciting curriculum that helps children gain the skills and knowledge they need. When children enjoy learning, they work harder and achieve more. This prepares them for now and the future.

We want our children to finish their time here confident, motivated, able to share their ideas, and ready to learn on their own. We help them become responsible and independent.

Watching a child grow in confidence and learning is a great joy. Our academy is a place where learning is both excellent and enjoyable. We encourage children to be healthy, safe, happy, and to make a positive difference in the world.

The Cromwell Way

At Cromwell Academy, our commitment to dream, believe and achieve is brought to life through The Cromwell Way — a guiding framework that shapes how we nurture every child’s learning and personal development. As a vibrant, inclusive primary academy, The Cromwell Way reflects our dedication to creating a supportive environment where children, staff, and families work together to embody our core values every day.

Our Five Core Values

The Cromwell Way is built on five key values that underpin all aspects of school life. These values guide our school’s actions and attitudes, helping every child to flourish academically, socially, and emotionally.

  • Readiness
We encourage children to come to school prepared and eager to learn. This means fostering a positive mindset and developing the skills needed to engage fully with lessons and activities. Readiness helps our children embrace new challenges and opportunities with confidence.

  • Resilience
At Cromwell Academy, resilience is about nurturing a growth mindset. We support children to persevere through difficulties, learn from mistakes, and bounce back stronger. This value aligns closely with our vision of educating the whole child, building inner strength alongside academic skills.

  • Relationships
Strong, respectful relationships lie at the heart of our community. We believe that trusting, supportive connections between pupils, staff, and families create a safe and inclusive environment where every child feels valued and understood.

  • Responsibility
We teach children to take ownership of their actions and learning. Responsibility encourages independence and accountability, helping children develop into thoughtful, considerate young people who contribute positively to school life and the wider community.

  • Reflection
Reflection is key to personal growth. We encourage children to think about their learning, behaviour, and experiences, fostering self-awareness and a lifelong love of learning. This value supports our aim of helping children to become thoughtful, reflective individuals.

Our Commitment to British Values

The DfE have recently reinforced the need “to create and enforce a clear and rigorous expectation on all schools to promote the fundamental British values of democracy, the rule of law, individual liberty and mutual respect and tolerance of those with different faiths and beliefs.”

The Government set out its definition of British values in the 2011 Prevent Strategy, and these values continue to be a crucial part of citizenship.  At Cromwell Academy these values are reinforced regularly and are evidenced in the following ways:

"Schools, through their curriculum, are legally bound to actively promote fundamental British values."

Cromwell Academy for many years has taught English Heritage and pupils already have developed a good understanding of our country, its history and some of our customs, values, democracy, law, liberty, respect and tolerance. The government requires that all schools show how the school’s work is effective in securing these British Values.

As a school we approach this using many different strategies; some examples are listed below;

Pupils lead a democratic culture through the School Council, Eco Council and House Captaincy; all of these groups lead work within the school to further promote British Values and English Heritage.

As part of our curriculum we also enhance British Values through regular assemblies, PSHCE lessons, special performances, visitors from the community, "Grandparents in School" day (linked to Armistice Day) as well as Christmas performances, Harvest festival assemblies, International Week and many other culturally diverse themed days and visits.
